Raju (25) and Saroja (21) of Muralinagar village under Kandukuru mandal of Ranga Reddy district were in love. Raju works as the supervisor of cab drivers in a software company in a software company in Hyderabad and Saroja was a nurse in a private hospital. As the two families are related, elders agreed to their marriage and performed the betrothal in the presence of relatives on February 6.they decided to perform marriage after Ugadi.
Meanwhile Saroja fell in love with one Prabhakar (25) of Chippalapalli village. The two got secretly got married in a temple and sought police protection, fearing the anger of elders. On a suggestion from the police they decided to talk the issue out in the presence of elders on Sunday. On Sunday Saroja and Prabhakar got down from bus at the Kandukuru cross roads and were waiting for their elders when Raju came along. In a fit of rage on seeing the couple, he snatched a knife from a cobbler and attacked Saroja. She sustained injuries on her neck and back. She was rushed to the Osmania hospital where she succumbed to the injuries during the wee hours of Tuesday.
