Left parties call for united fight against power tariff hike

CPI (M) state secretary B V Raghavulu called upon all the political parties and people to join hands to fight against hike in the power tariff.

The protest fast of the leaders of the left parties against the tariff hike at the Indira Park reached the second day.

Speaking on the occasion, Raghavulu said the government was cheating the people with regard to the power tariff. He said the agitation launched by the left parties against tariff hike was successful. He said the agitation was not having impact as the TDP and YSRCP were going about in their own different ways. He said the government was enacting a drama by stating that crops were not withering. He said the disunity of the opposition parties was the reason for the government surviving. He said the Congress government could collapse any minute.

CPI state secretary Dr. K Narayana said the government was cheating the people by buying power at high rate from private power generating units and throwing that burden on the people.

Telangana Nagara Samiti president Nagam Janardana Reddy expressed his support to the agitation of the left parties on the power tariff issue. He came to the fast camp and expressed his solidarity. Several other leaders also came to the camp and extended their support. Meanwhile, doctors have examined the health condition of the fasting leaders.
