Police say "no permission" to Sadak Bandh

The TRS and TJAC leaders warned the state government that any attempt to prevent the “Sadak Bandh” planned on March 21 in support of the demand for a separate Telangana State would be met with serious repercussions.

It might be mentioned here that the TJAC as part of its agitation to press for a Telangana state has planned to organize the Sadak Bandh on the Bangalore High way from seven points in the T region. The TJAC and TRS leaders have even sought the cooperation of Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy to grant permission for the same.

However, the SP of Mahaboobnagar district, Nagendra Kumar made clear that there was no permission the TJAC’s proposed Sadak Bandh. He further said that necessary measures under Rule 30 of Police Act would be in force from Wednesday to Firday and all those leaders planning to participate in the agitation would be arrested. Already many agitators have been bound over in this connection, he said.

Participating in a cycle rally organized from Alampur point on Tuesday, the Deputy Floor Leader of TRS in the Assembly, Harish Rao, cautioned that any attempt by the police to prevent the programme being planned in a peaceful manner would boomerang on the State Home Minister. He appealed to the TRS leaders and workers besides NGOs to make the Sadak Bandh a big success by participating in large numbers.

Meanwhile Prof. M. Kodandaram, Chairman of TJAC demanded the state government to pass a resolution in the State Assembly during the on-going session recommending a formation of a Telangana State. If a resolution is moved in the Assembly before March 21, then the proposed Sadak Bandh would be deferred.

Prof. Kodandaram further did not agree with the recent statement of the Chief Minister that a resolution on T would be defeated if moved in the Assembly. He said if all the parties supporting the T cause are made to issue a whip, then the resolution can easily said through in the Assembly.

The TJAC leader while appealing to all protagonists of Telangana State to participate in the Sadak Bandh in large numbers and make it a success, cautioned that any attempt to crush the programme with police force would be resisted. He also appealed to the people proceeding towards Bangalore on the national highway to postpone their travel plans.
