13 Jagan MLAs want to be disqualified

Hyderabad, April 5: Thirteen MLAs belonging to the Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's group, who had voted against the government during the recent no-confidence motion, wrote to Speaker Nadendla Manohar to disqualify them immediately.

In the open letter, they stated that they should be disqualified and by-elections held immediately.

Speaking to the media later, Jogi Ramesh of Congress and Amaranatha Reddy of TDP said they had openly voted against the government when a no-confidence motion was moved, defying the Congress party's whip. They stated there need not be any other clear evidence to take action against them. They stated they were ready for by-elections and asserted that they would be able to trounce the Congress and TDP whether they contest separately or jointly.

They also alleged that Congress and TDP were colluding to see that they are disqualified after some time, so that there need not be any by-elections. Stating that there would be no need for by-elections if there was less than one year time before the general elections, he said this provision was sought to be used to suppress them and the YSR Congress. They said they were appealing to the Speaker through the media to immediately disqualify them, as they believe that the Speaker was above political parties and would not be influenced by any party.

The MLAs, who asked to be disqualified included Sujaya Krishna Ranga Rao, Jogi Ramesh, Madala Rajesh, Aalla Nani, Gottipati Ravi Kumar, Sivaprasada Reddy and Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy of Congress and Vanita, Praveen Kumar Reddy, Bala Nagi Reddy, Sai Raj, Amaranath Reddy and others of the TDP.
