    Girls maintain supremacy

Girls maintain supremacy, All Girls maintain supremacy
Hyderabad, April 21: The girl students have maintained their supremacy in the first year Intermediate examination results, which were released by Secondary Education Minister K. Parthasarathi here on Sunday. In all, while 54.6 per cent of the students got through the examination, the Krishna district topped the State and the backward Mahbubnagar district occupied the last place.

While 59.46 per cent of girls passed the examination, the boys trailed behind them with 50.22 percent. Some 43% students passed in A grade, 32% in B grade, 16.9% C grade, 7.7% in D grade. In the vocational courses, the pass percentage was 46.54 with 4,86,658 students passed the examination, of which 2,62,339 are girls and 2,35,316 are boys.

As usual, the Telangana districts continued poor show as most districts figured much below the State average. Most Telangana districts secured low pass percentages are: Nizamabad, Medak and Nalgonda 41%, Warangal 46%, Adilabad 48% and Karimnagar 47%. However, Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts were the exceptions with 64 and 55 per cent respectively. The pass percentage of the coastal districts is as follows: Srikakulam 52%, East Godavari 54%, West Godavari 58%, Guntur 63%, Prakasam 53%. Nellore 64%. Chittoor 58%, Kurnool 52%, Anantapur 45%, Kadapa 50% and Vizianagaram 49%.

Ruling out irregularities in the valuation system, the minister said supplementary examinations will be conducted from May 22 and the last date for payment of fee is May 3. He also made it clear that there is no provision for payment of examination fee with penalty. He said the second year Intermediate examinations will be released either on April 25 or 26.
