Vidyut Jammwal has made an impact, an instant one at that. While most in Bollywood have already woken up to his prowess as far as action is concerned, there is more happening in life of the youngster. He may soon be stepping into the international arena for an out and out action film.
"Not many known that even before stepping into films, he was teaching action to youngsters in Mumbai. The unique stunts performed by him caught eye of Vipul Shah which led him to Force and then Commando. Meanwhile his agency has been in touch with international filmmakers as well, both in West and especially East where there is a strong market for such films. Everyone was just waiting for the release of Commando and see the kind of response it garners. With the film being a success, especially in the mass centres, it is time for Vidyut to move on to the next level", informs a source.
Vidyut has meanwhile made it clear even to his international collaborators that action would stay on to be central element in each of his assignments.
"There are opportunities out there waiting to be explored", the source adds, "While in the West there are lot of action films being made that have action at the core of it, there is a lot of wired assistance in there. In East it is a little different. There is a lot rawer and gritty action, something that Vidyut specialises in. Just recently, the world saw an Indonesian martial arts film called The Raid-Redemption. Vidyut is eyeing a narrative like that and is in talks already. He is an expert in the Indian martial arts form Kalaripayattu and wants to take it to the world through his films."
When contacted, Vidyut confirmed that he is looking at spreading his wings beyond Bollywood.
"Yes, my agency is talking to filmmakers who are interested. I am happy that I am representing this art form Kalaripayattu. What better way to do that than to demonstrate it through a film which reaches out to a global platform. We are the ones who started it all and then it was the East which took away our territory Now, I want to take this territory back from them."
