TDP demands probe into Nag's land deals

Hyderabad, April 5: TDP spokesperson Revanth Reddy has demanded that the State government order an inquiry into the real estate activities of cine actor Akkineni Nagarjuna.

Speaking to the media here on Friday, Revanth Reddy alleged that Nagarjuna had indulged in irregularities in the Gurukul Trust lands located near the Hi-tech City. He also alleged that Nagarjuna had encroached upon 14 acres beside his land by burying a tank.

The TDP leader alleged that Nagarjuna got the controversial lands regularized with the help of then chief minister Dr YSR. He also alleged that Nagarjuna was holding business activities in the Annapurna Studios. He said Nagarjuna had told him once that the quality will suffer if subsidy was given to the poor people in admissions into Film Institute housed in Annapurna Studios. The TDP leader said he had asked Nagarjuna whether illegally occupying lands is justified and giving subsidy to the poor people in his Film Institute was injustice.

Asked about TRS Chief K Chandrasekhara Rao’s remark that the TDP leaders were ‘Sanyasis’, Revanth Reddy retorted saying that KCR himself was a great Sanyasi who launched TRS when the TDP denied him minister post for second time during its regime. He also said he need not respond to a Sanyasi’s remarks.

Alleging that the Chief Minister was speaking in a confused mind on the power charges hike, Revanth Reddy said the Chief Minister was preparing a ground to pass on heavy burden of power charges to the people. He said those toiling in Dhobi Ghats were also appearing like investors to the Chief Minister’s.

He further alleged that the Chief Minister himself had coerced the ERC to increase power charges. He said nobody would believe the “cock and bull stories” being recited by the Chief Minister without eradicating corruption in the power sector. He demanded that the Chief Minister check corruption in the power purchase if he was sincere. He also demanded that the Chief Minister order an inquiry with the CAG if there was no corruption in the power purchase deals.
