The gang rape of women photo journalist in Mumbai on Thursday evening has come as a shocker for the whole nation. For the nation which is still worrying over the December 2012 Delhi gang rape incident, this is yet another shocking development. More so, as this heinous crime occurred in Mumbai which is regarded as a safe city for women. 22-year-old woman photo journalist, who was working as an intern in a English magazine, went to Mahalakshmi Mills in the evening on an assignment. This mill is an abandoned one and is a hangout for drug addicts. Shockingly it’s located in the centre of Mumbai. right beside the busy Mahalakshmi Station.
The girl has gone there to cover the illegal activities going on there along with an assistant. When she entered the Mills a group of young men had beaten up her assistant and raped her around 6 p.m. The girl regained consciousness at 8 p.m. Her assistant took her to Jaslok hospital for treatment. Police say, they have got hold of the suspected persons and the investigation is going on.
