Deepika Padukone may have won the accolades of many people after her recent success with the film ‘Chennai Express’, but currently not in Ahmedabad, for a gang of protesters tried to pelt eggs and tomatoes on her.
Evidently the agitated protest on her was not for her earlier movie ‘Chennai Express’, but for the alleged controversial content in her upcoming film ‘Ram-Leela’, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It was indeed a close call for Deepika, for the protestors were ready to embarrass her during the visit, fortunately saved and the film makers are certain to remove the disturbing portion of the film.
“Members of the Jadeja and the Rabari community were set to attack the actress as well as the organizers at the venue. The situation got tense but finally they backed down after they were told that the apparently offensive portions from the film had been re-dubbed”, another source said.
However the official spokesperson of the film informed; “‘Ram-Leela’ is a well-made film which does not antagonize, offend or disrespect any community, whatsoever.”
‘Ram-Leela’ is supposed to be a romantic entertainer. Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Supriya Pathak and Richa Chaddha are the major artists in the cast. The film is expected to hit the screens on November 15, 2013.
