Badminton Association of India's (BAI) disciplinary committee has recommended a life-ban on Jwala Gutta for prompting her team 'Delhi Smashers' from playing a match against 'Banga Beats' in the first season of India Badminton League. In response, Jwala moved the Delhi High Court on Wednesday to salvage her career.
Actually, Badminton Association of India seeked an apology from Jwala for stopping the match. However, the Hyderabadi star refused to do so and thus leading to life ban.
Jwala's father Kranti Gutta questioned why should his daughter apologize despite not committing any mistake. He appealed to the sports ministry to take duo motto notice of the issue.
On the other hand, Sports minister Jitendra Singh said he would look into the matter only if the player approaches him.
Former Badminton players have been calling the life ban on Jwala as too harsh. However, National chief coach Pullela Gopichand remained tight-lipped on the issue.
