Akhilesh Yadav announces 40 thousand jobs, 5 lakh compensation for sanitation workers

Lucknow: While addressing the "Safai Mazdoor" rally, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday announced that 40 thousand sanitation workers will be recruited in the state.

Akhilesh said, "We will recruit 40 thousand sanitation workers and Rs five lakh compensation be provided to their family members in case of their death. Besides, honorarium to contractual sanitation staff will be raised from Rs 120 to Rs 250."

He also said that a high-power committee will be formed to look into their problems.

He added, "The state government will act on the recommendations and suggestions of the committee and will ensure better life to sanitation workers."

Yadav emphasized on the importance of sanitation workers and said that with rapid urbanization their need has increased.

Talking about the electronic waste in Moradabad, Yadav said "The matter will be considered seriously as the waste to make an adverse affect on people as well as cleaning staff."

Also SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav addressed the rally and said, "The Valmiki community has awakened politically and its importance has increased, it has no longer remained as the suppressed group of the society."
