Choreographer turned director Prabhu Deva, who brought mass entertainers back into Bollywood, is gearing up with yet another action film in R…Rajkumar. Starring the talented Shahid Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha, the music has been quite a rage these days. Let’s see whether the album lives up to its expectations.
Song 1: Gandi Baat
Singers: Mika Sigh, Kalpana Patowary
Lyrics: Anupam Amod, Mayur Puri.Gandi-Baat
Analysis: The album begins with the song ‘Gandi Baat’, which is an energetic number with heavy desi beats. Both the singers showcase awesome chemistry and make most of its funny lyrics look catchy. Gandi Baat has all the ingredients of an ideal mass number and is an instant chart buster.
Song 2: Saree Ke Fall Sa
Singers: Nakash Aziz, Antara Mitra
Lyrics: Anupam Amod, Mayur Puri.
Saree-Ke-Fall-Sa
Analysis: The album moves ahead with ‘Saree Ke Fall Sa’ which is the best song in the album. Lyrics are quite quirky but it’s the right blend of words like “Touch karke, touch karke, Dil mera kyun scratch kiya re” which will hook you on with its arresting melody.
Song 3: Mat Maari
Singers: Atif Aslam, Shreya Ghoshal.
Lyrics: Anupam Amod, Mayur Puri.Mat-Maari
Analysis: The third song in the album is ‘Mat Maari’ which is typical teasing song. Pritam borrows the sounds from the 90′s and makes this song quite loud. Sunidhi Chauhan’s voice is the only saving grace, but Mat Maari goes on for too long and is probably the worst song in the album.
Song 4: Dhokha Dhadi
Singers: Arjit Singh
Lyrics: Anupam Amod, Mayur Puri.
Dhokha-Dhadi
Analysis: The fourth song in the album is ‘Dhoka Dhadi’ which is the sole romantic number in the film. This song instantly reminds you of Pritam’s previous romantic songs which have softer music arrangements. Sung by the happening Arijit Sngh, Dhoka Dhadi is worth a listen.
Song 5: Kaddu Katega
Singers: Antara Mitra
Lyrics: Anupam Amod, Mayur Puri.kaddu-kaatega
Analysis: The last and final song is ‘Kaddu Katega’ which features Sonu Sood. The song has beats of both North and South Indian styles interlaced into one. Antara Mitra does her best with the vocals, but again even this song is loud and too fast to register.
Verdict: On the whole, R..Rajkumar is a typical Prabhu Deva album with all the massy dance numbers. Pritam tries something different and plays it to the masses with his beats. Gandi baat and Saree Ke Fall Sa are our picks, but rest of the songs are quite ordinary.
