After giving some good hits like ‘Gadar’, ‘The Hero’ and ‘Apne’, the hit combination of actor Sunny Deol and director Anil Sharma is back again with their latest offering which is titled ‘Singh Saab The Great’. The movie that also stars Amrita Rao and Johnny Lever has released today and so let’s read on to know about it.

    Story:
Saranjeet Singh (Sunny Deol) is a simple human being who loves his family and fights for the truth. Right from his childhood, he is troubled with injustice and corruption within the society around him and so he grows up to become a collector who wants to clean this system.

Saranjeet targets the corrupt Bhudev (Prakash Raj) who is the most powerful man in his area. However, in this process Saranjit is also unfairly accused of bribery but this does not affect him and he valiantly continues to do the good work that he has started out to do.

The rest of the story is about how Saranjeet fights against the evil Bhudev and eliminates corruption in that area.

    Plus Points:
Just like their first venture ‘Gadar’, this film too has loads of action, drama, humor and romance. The best part about the film is that it concentrates more on the change in society and brings forth an important message.

As with every Sunny Deol movie, ‘Singh Saab The Great’ also has a lot of typical Sunny Deol type of action which he delivers with his usual power-packed performance. Newcomer Urvashi Rautela looks refreshing and beautiful in her Indian attires while Amrita Rao is good in a supporting role.

Special credit goes to Prakash Raj who has given an amazing performance as the villainous Bhudev. He definitely has become one of the most sought after villains in Bollywood today.

    Minus Points:-
Even though the first half is filled with some entertaining scenes, the second half lacks entertainment. Also, the chemistry between Sunny and Urvashi fails to impress.

Johnny Lever and Sanjay Mishra’s characters prove to be extremely unnecessary and could have easily been edited out of the screenplay. The film gets too loud in-between which makes the viewers lose interest.

The storyline by the second half is predictable and the idea of a single honest man fighting against the system has been earlier seen in a lot of movies.

    Technical points:
The film’s cinematography is tacky while the editing too could have been a bit sharper. The music of the film is terrible and does not fit well into the screenplay. Songs like ‘Palang Tod’ are absolutely in bad taste.

The screenplay of the film lacks substance and has nothing new to offer and also loses pace by the second half. The dialogues are impactful and designed particularly for the masses. Tinnu Verma and Kanal Kannan’s action is fantastic with Sunny Deol packing a punch in the stunt sequences.

Anil Sharma’s direction is quite mediocre and he plays safe by going along with the current trend of masala flicks and presents Sunny Deol in a commercial format.

    Final Word:
Overall, ‘Singh Saab The Great’ is yet another Sunny Deol film with intense action and emotions. However a powerful performance by Prakash Raj and some rustic action scenes will be liked immensely at the single screens.
