Bombay High Court ordered the Ram Charan-Priyanka starrer 'Zanjeer' trailer to be withdrawn on yesterday, Zanjeer team flew down to Hyderabad to release the Telugu trailer of the film, not knowing that their trip would end up being an exercise in futility.
Dealing a double blow to the makers, the HC also ordered that the Hindi trailer, next in line, should not be aired until further notice. The order was passed in view of (late) Prakash Mehra's sons - Sumeet and Puneet's complaint against their brother Amit Mehra, who is producing the remake of their father's 1973 blockbuster.
Amit, who had bought the remake rights from his brothers Sumeet, who stays in the US and younger sibling Puneet, who stays in Mumbai had defaulted on payments, running into crores. Consequently, Sumeet and Puneet terminated the contract that granted Amit the remake rights in the first place, after which they were involved in a legal tangle.
Last week, when Sumeet and Puneet realised that Amit was going all out to publicise his film, starting with the Telugu trailer on Monday, March 25, they decided to approach the Court one more time. Little & Co represented Sumeet and Puneet, Naik & Naik argued the case for Amit. Let's wait and see how many troubles our Cherry has to face for his debut in Bollywood.
