Speaking at the recent event which was held to introduce a director's son (a trained dancer turning hero), veteran great K Balachander said to the debutante hero that his biggest advantage was learning dance before entering into films, just like Kamal Haasan. According to the director, there is no other actor in the Industry who could do the Kathak dance like the one in Vishwaroopam better than the versatile actor.
Birju Maharaj bagged National Award in the category of Best Choreography for Viswaroopam. Thanks to Kamal Haasan who made the Kathak number look so lovable onscreen.
The choreographer opines Kamal deserves special appreciation,as even though he is a highly talented dancer, he spent hours to get every step right for the movie. Interestingly, Kamal is the only male he have ever choreographed for! That makes the alliance even more special.
