Eluru, March 31: Dissidence is intensifying in the YSR congress, as the party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy continued to be in jail. The increasing dissidence ahead of general elections is worrying senior leaders. In the latest incident, two groups fought in the presence of senior leader Mysoora Reddy in the West Godavari district. Unable to proceed with the meeting, Mysoora told the leaders that they could meet again later.
WG district YSR Congress leaders met here in the presence of Mysoora Reddy on Sunday. Srinivasa Rao, a former ZPTC member and senior leader suddenly expressed his dissatisfaction in the meeting. He questioned Mysoora Reddy how new entrants were being given prominence ignoring seniors like him, who have been serving the party ever since its inception. Srinivasa Rao’s supporters stood up and raised their voices.
This was seen as a straight attack on MLA Maddala Rajesh, who recently announced his joining the party. Sensing that they were being targeted, Rajesh’s supporters also raised their voices. This has led to a serious altercation, compelling Mysoora Reddy to postpone the meeting.
Angered by the postponement, Srinivasa Rao’s supporters faulted Mysoora for postponing the meeting instead of resolving the issue they had raised. They warned that the party would face serious problems if loyalists were ignored. The two groups pushed each other, but stopped short of indulging in fist fights.
Such differences surfaced between other leaders also. Buddani group revolted against Alla Nani group. In a recent meeting in Nidadavoolu, Jakkamsetti brothers and in Denduluru Sanjay also expressed their dissidence openly.
