TRS has fired a salvo at the 2013-14 State Budget introduced by Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy on Monday. It alleged that the Seemandhra dominance clearly witnessed in the budget.
Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, party senior leader and Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao lamented that gross injustice was meted out to the Telangana region in the new budget. Democracy confined to the books only, he said and alleged that the allotment of budget to the medical colleges located in the Telangana region were clearly showing discrimination towards Telangana region.
Stating that 10 Medical Colleges were there in the Seemandhra region and only five Medical Colleges in the Telangana region, he alleged that the “Seemandhra” Finance Minister did great injustice in allotting the budget to those five Medical Colleges in the Telangana region. He also alleged that the Finance Minister allotted Rs 362 crores to the Nellore Medical College whereas a paltry Rs 160 crores allotted to the Nizamabad Medical College. “The difference between the amounts allotted to the Medical Colleges is glaringly discriminatory,” he pointed out.
He alleged that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government too was following footsteps of late chief minister Dr Y S Rajashekar Reddy, who had looted the public money indiscriminately, by allotting funds to the Medical Colleges in the Telangana region. “Not only in the medical sector, but also in all the sectors, the government was showing discrimination in the allotment of funds”, he bemoaned. The Seemandhra government’s loot will be stopped only with the creation of separate Telangana State, he added.
Harish Rao said there were five nursing colleges in the Seemandhra region, whereas only one nursing college was located in the Telangana region and that too in a dilapidated building. He alleged that the government was showing clear discrimination in setting up regional training institutions. He said there were six regional training institutions in the Seemandhra region while there was only two in Hyderabad. “Is it not discrimination by the government towards Telangana region”, he asked, adding that though the Centre had asked the State government to relocate regional training institutions, the State government simply issued an order in this regard and looted the money deceiving even the Centre.
