Hyderabad, March 21: Suspended IAS officer Sri Lakshmi, sixth accused in the OMC case was sent back to the jail on Thursday.
Sri Lakshmi surrendered before the CBI court in Nampalli, as her interim bail ended on Thursday. She came to the court in a wheelchair. The court which extended her bail till March 25, said she could use the wheelchair in the jail.
It may be recalled that Sri Lakshmi urged the court to give her regular bail, stating that she had still not totally recovered. The court directed the prison authorities to have her health condition checked by the doctors of the government Osmania or Gandhi hospitals and give a report. The CBI however, opposed her plea of extension of the interim bail granted on health grounds, stating that bail need not be extended for undergoing physiotherapy. The agency's counsel argued that physiotherapy could be arranged in the jail itself by authorities. The counsel expressed the view that being an IAS officer, she would be able to influence the witnesses, if let out.
