It might be mentioned here that the textile dealers have launched an indefinite strike demanding withdrawal of vat and have shut business all over the state for the last 13 days.
The TDP moved an adjournment motion in this regard which was disallowed by Speaker Nadendla Manohar. The adjournment motions of TRS for a T resolution, YSRCP on surcharge in power tariff, CPM for sub-plan allocation for artisans were also disallowed.
The TDP, TRS and YSRC members stormed onto the podium and began chanting slogans. The Speaker reminded the TDP members, who also raised the issue of price rise of essential commodities, that these could be discussed during the short discussion allowed under Rule 344. But the members remained unrelenting ands continued their slogan shouting disrupting the proceedings.
As there was no let up in the protests by the Opposition members despite his repeated appeals. The Speaker adjourned the House for the first time within 10 minutes till 10 a.m. The House reassembled after one hour but this time the TRS members continued their demand for a T resolution and occupied the podium and raised slogans.
The Speaker announced the postponement of the question listed for the day and wanted the discussion on the motion of thanks to Governor’s address, which along with the question hour has been continuously getting derailed due to the Opposition’s protest in the House, to be taken up and the members could utilize the same to raise various issues. But with no change in the Opposition stance in disrupting the proceedings, the House was adjourned for second time for half hour.
When the House reassembled after over an hour, the situation remained the same with the TRS continuing their protests forcing the Speaker to adjourn for the third time for the day without transacting any business.
