There has been no official confirmation on the nature of blast, however eyewitnesses claim it to be gas cylinder explosion.
One of the bystanders said, "Preliminary observation indicates that a gas cylinder in a car parked in the area exploded, gutting several vehicles".
As it was the last day to file nominations for upcoming state assembly elections, the premises was crowded with BJP workers.
Incident's footage shows that a number of vehicles have been gutted in the fire. Two of the cars parked nearby were completely charred followed by the detonation. A bus crossing nearby was also hit.
Top cops including police commissioner have reached the spot to determine the nature of explosion, but no statement has been given yet. At present, fire brigade officials have doused the fire and security has been deployed in the entire area.
The injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals.
