'Sanjay is regretting for what he has done in the past and has suffered a lot over the years. He is a nice person. I wish he gets mercy and I pray for him from my bottom of my heart,' Chiru told media persons.
The Supreme Court has sentenced Sanjay Dutt to five years of imprisonment for illegal possession of arms during the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts. The actor had already served 18 months in prison and he was ordered by the SC to surrender within four weeks to complete the full tenure of three-and-half years.
Though Sanjay has no plans to seek mercy, film fraternity and several political parties have been wishing that the actor will be pardoned on humanitarian grounds.
