Mumbai: The 66th Cannes Film Festival that opens on May 15 will see India ruling the festival this year. The opening ceremony will hold a special event, celebrating the 100 years of Indian cinema.
The event will have the special screening of Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby, which will mark the debut of Amitabh Bachchan in Hollywood. The screening will see the presence of Amitabh Bachchan along with daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
The event cannot miss on the jury, comprising of actress Nandita Das as a jury member of the Cine Foundation and short film sections including Vidya Balan who will join the jury that includes the Oscar winning directors Ang Lee and Steven Spielberg.
For the Cannes Critics Week and the screening sections at midnight, two of Anurag Kashyap's co-production have been selected. Also, Anurag will screen his flick Ugly in the Director's Fortnight.
Bombay Talkies, a four episodic direction of Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee has been selected for a special screening at the event.
