Liquor ban in Tirumala

One of the most highly respected and revered place in Andhra Pradesh is the temple town of Tirupathi and today it has the world’s richest God. But with days passing, the place has become a hub for impure activities and the important one among them being the rising incidents of liquor consumption right atop the hill and the emergence of many wine shops in down Tirupathi.

A demand has been raised by the YSRCP leader Karunakar Reddy recently that liquor must be banned completely in Tirumala. This comes as a genuine demand looking at the way Tirumala and Tirupathi have been getting spoiled. Some of the police officials reveal most of the crime and other cases they receive usually arise due to alcohol consumption.

Many social organizations are also of the opinion that in order to improve the sanctity of the place, the liquor business must be banned. But the way our state government generates revenue from this, it could be hard. But then, it is all about the essence of feeling divine when one visits a holy place, can anyone experience it in Tirupathi these days?
