Sanjay Dutt Asks For More Time To Surrender

Actor Sanjay Dutt, whose conviction under the Arms Act in the 1993 Bombay blasts case was upheld by the Supreme Court on March 21, was sentenced to five years in jail. Since Dutt had already been in prison for 18 months in the past, he was supposed to serve the remaining time period of three and half years. The actor had been ordered to surrender before the designated court by April 18.

There was a lot of media speculation over whether Dutt would apply for pardon. At a recently held press conference (March 28), the 53-year-old actor had stated that he would not apply for any pardon.

However, today the actor has asked the Supreme Court to give him more time (six months) to surrender. Dutt has been working continously since the past few days in order to complete all his films. The actor has even set up a dubbing studio at his home and is trying to finish all his pending projects (P.K, Policegiri and Zanjeer).

The SC will hear his case tomorrow.
