    Shadow in big trouble

Shadow is touted to be the high budget film in entire Venkatesh's career. The film's budget was overshot by a mile and the makers are finding it tough to release it on time due to lack of business. Venkatesh's successful film can make 25 crores from the theatricals. However, the buyers wouldn't risk that much on a film directed by Meher Ramesh, who has no single hit to his credit. Moreover, Meher's previous movie Shakti was a huge disaster.

None of Venkatesh's films (as solo lead) have done well in the recent past. He scored a genuine hit with Adavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule, which was released six years ago. It has been a long time since Venkatesh showed his real mettle as the lead man. An out of form Venkatesh and not so reliable Meher Ramesh are making it a burden for the producers as the budget went up to forty crores. The scenario of Shadow is similar to that of Dhamarukam, which eventually ended up as a loss venture, despite doing reasonably well at the box office.

Shadow was supposed to release for Ugadi, but the latest buzz suggests that it may not release until May as it is in a huge financial soup. Producers have to risk up to Rs. 15 crores if they have to release it now. So the film needs to be released during the right time. With Baadshah blazing all guns at the box office, it may not be wise for Shadow to come out now as it won't get good number of screens. But if the film is delayed too much it would have to compete with Iddarammayilatho in May. Not a comfortable position to be in.
