Hyderabad, May 2: Telugu Desam party politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu has demanded that the statement of late YSR’s wife Y S Vijayamma in “Saakshi” daily on May 2 be taken as a confession and bring it under the purview of CBI investigation.
In a statement here on Thursday, Ramakrishnudu pointed out that YSRCP honorary president Vijayamma had asked whether lands and mines allotted by the present government do not come under quid pro quo and whether the allotment of lands and mines alone made by late YSR government come under qui pro quo? By this statement, Vijayamma had clearly agreed that larger chunks of lands and mines were allotted to “their” people, he stated, adding that as she was aware of all the shady deals and she made the confessional statement.
Yanamala stated that the High Court had ordered a probe into the “YSR government’s transactions” as there was prima facie evidence of quid pro quo. As the transactions were done in a quid pro quo manner, the CBI has filed five charge-sheets against Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and several IAS officers and industrialists landed in jail. He also pointed out that the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI had seized property worth Rs 265 crores of Jaganmohan Reddy were attached because there was evidence of Jagan resorted to corrupt practices.
The former minister stated though N. Chandrababu Naidu government had allotted lands and given licences for mining, all the transactions were totally legal, transparent and in conformity with rules and guidelines. But the TDP leaders never amassed money through illegal methods and never distributed government assets to private companies in quid pro quo manner, he added. He also stated that Vijayamma’s attempts to divert public attention from her late husband’s mistakes and criminal activities will be futile.
