Krishna Vamsi, who made some of the memorable movies in the past has lost his magical touch and delivered big duds in the recent times. Ram Charan who has been succeeding with commercial potboilers opted to do a film under Krishna Vamsi direction for an image makeover. Govindudu Andarivadele is a perfect family drama that sticks to its genre.
What is it about?
Abhiram (Ram Charan) comes to his grandfather's place with the aim to reunite his father (Rehman) and grandfather (Prakash Raj). Abhiram wins the hearts of everyone in the family and solves few problems of theirs. But the biggest task to keep his promise given to his dad has to be fulfilled and that is not an easy task.
Ram Charan:
Ram Charan surprises one and all in this film. He is labeled as a one dimensional actor before this film. But he has proved his skills in the character of Abhiram. Krishna Vamsi has the knack of bringing the best out of his actors and that has proved yet again with this film. This is easily Charan's best performance till date. He looked very stylish and handsome too.
Srikanth:
Srikanth's role is brief, but he excelled in every frame that he is on the screen. His antics as mischievous rural guy are very good. His dialogues and wise cracks with Prakash Raj are a treat.
Prakash Raj:
Prakash Raj played a very important role. He is the backbone of this film. This is another feather in his cap. His chemistry with Charan is too good.
Others:
Kajal Agarwal is at her sensuous best in this film. Krishna Vamsi is a master in portraying his heroines in a glamorous avatar and Kajal looks million bucks in GAV. Jayasudha's performance in the climax scenes is superb. Kota, Posani, Rao Ramesh and others did their part.
Technical Aspects:
Like in any Krishna Vamsi film, even GAV is full of life and celebration. Credit should go to him for bringing back the missing family values and human emotions on screen. The way he extracts performances from all his artists, is just outstanding. Camerawork by Sameer Reddy is stunning, as he presents the village atmosphere in a superb light. The way the sets, costumes and other properties have been used brings a lot of life to the film.
Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music is decent, and goes with the flow of the film. Fights composed by Peter Heins are entertaining. Dialogues are written with lot of human values, and bring in a lot of depth to the film. Production values are top notch, and Bandla Ganesh should be given credit for the uncompromising visuals. Screenplay of the film is quite good and keeps you engaged right throughout.
Direction:
This is undoubtedly the best film of Krishna Vamsi since Chandamama. He is good at dealing with family dramas. Although GAV has an age old story, Krishna Vamsi made sure that the film had good moments to impress the audience. However his work cannot be compared with his best works like Ninne Pelladatha, Murari etc.
Others:
Music is good and complements the mood of the movie. Yuvan's songs are good on screen than in audio. Dialogues are neat. Editing could have been better. Cinematography is very good. Producer Ganesh should be lauded for making a film that is based on content than the stardom of the lead actor.
Plus Points:
Stellar Star Cast
Emotional quotient
Songs
Minus Points:
Age old Story
Flat narration
Analysis:
Govindudu Andarivadele is a welcome change for the Telugu audience who are being served with so called time pass entertainers. GAV doesn't have any brand new story or treatment. We have seen similar kind of movies many a time. But Krishna Vamsi presented it in an emotionally engaging fashion.
Ram Charan has got what he has wished for. He gets an image makeover and can attempt family entertainers hereafter. GAV will be remembered by Charan fans forever. After doing a series of action films, Charan got the much needed break from the monotony. GAV has a stellar star cast and the director made use of each and every actor in the main roles.
GAV is a perfect film for this festive season that is targeted at the family crowds. GAV doesn't have elements that pleases the youth and masses as director sticks to the genre. It has strong content, superb performances and good music to win the audiences hearts. Range of the film will depend on how mass audience and youngsters respond to it.
Verdict: Govindudu is a Winner.
