    9 MLAs and Srisailam to be disqualified

    New Delhi, March 22: AICC general secretary in-charge of state affairs, Ghulam Nabi Azad said action would be taken against 9 Congress MLAs who defied the party whip and voted against the government when voting was held on the no-confidence motion in the Assembly recently.

    Speaking to the media here on Friday, he said the party would complain about them to the Speaker and request him to disqualify them.

    Meanwhile, in Hyderabad, government chief whip Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy said the party would request the speaker to disqualify the MLAs.

    Speaking to the media at the CLP office on Friday, he said it was improper on the part of Congress members to join the opposition attempts to dislodge the government. He said there was no question of hesitating to take action against the erring members. He said it is possible that the party might also complain against Independent MLA Kuna Srisailam Goud who met the YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday, as he was continuing as the associate member of Congress.

    Gandra said it was improper for the opposition parties to stall the Assembly proceedings everyday. Stating that because of such attitude people’s problems could not be discussed in the house, he said the government was always ready to discuss urgent problems at any time. He has criticized the opposition members for wasting the valuable time of the house. He has appealed to the opposition members to use the valuable time of the house, to discuss people’s problems.
