Nagpur: After battling for life for 13 days, the three-and-half year old rape victim from Ghansor in Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh died of cardiac arrest on Monday.
The girl took her last breath at 7:45 pm on Monday at the Care Hospital here. According to the doctors attending her, all the efforts to revive her through cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) were unsuccessful.
As per the sources, her body was sent to the Government Medical College and Hospital for post mortem as it was a medico legal case.
Firoz Khan (35) allegedly kidnapped and raped the girl on April 17 and dumped her at a farm. Next morning, she was found unconscious after which her parents admitted her to the Government Medical College. The victim was shifted from Jabalpur to Nagpur post her condition worsened.
But she remained in coma ever since she was admitted at the Care Hospital. The girl suffered a severe damage to her brain and was on life support system. On Monday evening, her condition worsened and there were no signs of improvement.
"Her haemodynamic parameters which at least were stable until a few days back were deteriorating. Her blood pressure was very low in spite of best possible medication," said Dr Ashok Tank.
Police arrested Firoz Khan from his maternal uncle's home in Bihar on April 23.
