Hyderabad, April 16: Senior Congress leader and former CWC member Dr K Keshava Rao has said his party has conveniently forgotten the Telangana issue.
Speaking to the media at Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy’s residence after a meeting with MLC Shabbir Ali on Tuesday, Keshava Rao said they discuss only the Telangana issue with the party high command. He said it was not proper to the party leaders to make cheap remarks against him and other Telangana Congress leaders. Even today, TRS Chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao was ready to merge his party into the Congress if the Congress high command conceded separate State, he said, adding that TRS was not a political party but a mass movement. “We are contemplating to join Telangana movement”, he said and condemned the criticism of his party leaders.
Keshava Rao said KCR has suggested to them that it would be good to the Congress leaders if they joined TRS before April 27. Making it clear that he was not interested in positions and parties except Telangana State, he said he had asked his sons to join politics after his demise or desertion from active politics. He said he was not thinking that he would shift his loyalties to another party at this age.
Keshava Rao said the Congress MPs of the region would meet on April 18 and would announce their future course of action. He also made it clear that they will be constrained to take “harsh decisions” if the Centre failed to create separate Telangana State immediately. He said he would strive to unite all forces fighting for Telangana State. Alleging that the national parties were not taking care of regional issues giving rise to regional parties, he said the Congress-led UPA government was ignoring the Telangana people’s decades’ long desire for separate State.
