The epicenter of the earthquake was reported to be 100 kilometres deep down the earth.
Quake has also been reported in the capital city of India New Delhi and adjoining NCR region, sources said.
People panicked and rushed out of their offices and homes in the National Capital Region after the quake that lasted several seconds.
Reports of damage and casualties are immediately not known.
