Rampur: Uttar Pradesh Minister powerful Azam Khan, who was detained and frisked at the Boston airport recently, returned from US on Monday. He lambasted the US for the ‘insult’ meted out to him and said that it was due to malafide stand against the Muslims, he was accorded the despicable behaviour.
Speaking to media, the leader suspected a bigger conspiracy by America to indict him in the Boston marathon bombings.
The Samajwadi Party leader, who was accompanying Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for a Harvard University event in the US, was detained briefly for questioning at Boston International Airport on Wednesday.
According to sources, Khan was detained for about 10 minutes after he landed in a scheduled British Airways flight from India. Earlier on Friday, Akhilesh had boycotted the Harvard lecture which he was due to deliver in protest against his minister Azam Khan's detention at the Boston airport.
The political members of the delegation from Uttar Pradesh are not attending any of Harvard events in protest. The State Chief secretary Jawed Usmani had made a presentation on behalf of the Chief Minister.
