Directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, the movie hits the theatres tomorrow. We have been to an exclusive premiere. Let’s see what this movie has in store for the viewers.
Story:
The movie starts with two chaddi-buddies and school going friends, Hunny (Pulkit) and Choocha (Varun Sharma) who dream of going to a good college. The two are blessed with the unusual power of converting their dreams into winning lottery ticket numbers. Lali (Manjot) also wants to gain good college education. The fourth member of the Fukrey gang is Zafar (Ali). He is an aspiring musician and wants to earn money to take good care of his paralysed father.
The four of them join hands to invest in a big business deal, in the hope of solving all their problems. This is when the gang approaches Bholi Punjabi (Richa Chadda), a rowdy who runs many illegal businesses.
Why do they approach him? Will they be able to handle the cruel Bholi ? Will this shortcut to success help them achieve their dreams?
That forms the rest of the story…
Positive Points:
Director Mrighdeep has succeeded brilliantly in handling a clever comedy caper. He has managed to induced some fresh Punjabi humor into the proceedings and he succeeds in entertaining the viewers big time.
Speaking of performances, all the actors have worked hard to come up with some superb performances. Varun is a wholesome entertainer. Pulkit shows off his acting skills by portraying the role of a smart and handsome lad with ease. His confidence is something to watch out for. Manjot is effective as an innocent young Sardar who is willing to make sacrifices for others. Ali has come up with a pleasing performance.
Coming to the female gang, Richa Chadda steals the show with her tomboyish looks and dialogue delivery. Priya Anand and Vishaka Singh have given a decent performance. Priya Anand looks very gorgeous.
There are only a few songs in the movie, but they fit well in the scheme of things. ‘Ambarsariya’ and ‘Karle Jugad Karle’ are the best of the lot.
Negative Points:
The pace of the movie can get a little slow at times, especially in the first half. Even though Manjot’s expressions are commendable, his dialogue delivery is very similar to that of Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye!
Ali, Priya and Vishaka have only a few scenes and lines to show off their talent. The film gets a little confusing at times with some unrealistic sequences involved. Cinematic liberties have been taken.
The Punjabi humour may not be understood by all.
Technical Points:
Witty dialogues by Vipul Vig keep viewers entertained. Being an Excel Entertainment film, production values are rich. Screenplay and editing are laudable.
Cinematography of the film is really nice. The background score is effective and helps the movie considerably.
Final Word:
Fukrey has some commendable performances and very witty humor. The film can get a little slow in the first half, but get through that and you will be rewarded. This is a young and humorous entertainer.
