Television queen and producer Ekta Kapoor who owns the production house Balaji Tele Films has evaded the tax to the tune of Rs 30 crore.
Apparently, Income Tax officials have conducted raids at offices and residences belonging to Ekta Kapoor on Tuesday (April 30th). Over 100 sleuths have took part in the searches held at seven locations in Mumbai.
The officials have confirmed on Friday that Ekta Kapoor have deliberately misquoted the cost of the films produced under her home banner since the past six years to evade taxes.
During the interrogation, the lady producer surprised the IT sleuths by claiming that she was no way involved in the financial aspects of the company. Finally, Balaji Tele Films agreed to pay the taxes it owes along with the penalty at the earliest.
Ekta Kapoor is the daughter of veteran Bollywood star Jeetendra. She has been producing some of the most popular Tele Series for the past many years and also emerged as the most successful Bollywood producer in the recent past.
